The new 51,000 SF regional crime center will create a dynamic hub for public safety and academic excellence. The Kansas Bureau of Investigations will gain a state-of-the-art operational investigations center and regional crime laboratory, enhancing its ability to serve the needs of the community. The facility will also provide a valuable resource for law enforcement agencies throughout the region including the Sheriff, Pittsburg State University Police, FBI, Kansas Highway Patrol and Kansas Attorney General, offering collaborative workspace and access to cutting-edge training and investigative support.

enhancing operational capabilities

This project will incorporate several critical components to enhance operational capabilities. Dedicated vehicle tech bays will facilitate crime investigations and specialized training. A multi-lane firing range will provide a secure environment for firearms training and qualification. Purpose-built interview rooms will ensure a controlled and secure environment for investigative interviews. Complex laboratories will provide students with hands-on experience in advanced analytical techniques.

This regional crime center and laboratory will bridge the gap between academia and the criminal justice field by providing students with direct access to professional development opportunities alongside industry professionals.
