Project Case Study
McCownGordon completed an expansion and renovation at Washburn Rural High School in Topeka, Kansas. The project includes an approximately 60,000 square feet addition of a new Career Technical Education (CTE)/Innovation wing and a 7,000 square feet addition of a new multi-purpose/gymnasium wing.

Renovations to the existing CTE suites and classroom space also took place. Additionally, the project features a JRTOC shooting range and a greenhouse which was built into the envelope of the second floor.
This was an extensive renovation with three summers of work, so the McCownGordon team worked closely with the school to phase the project in the most efficient way possible. The team prioritized safety and communication with students, staff and visitors throughout the occupied renovation.
