Retro-Commissioning in Kansas City

Optimize Building Performance

Existing commissioning and retro-commissioning both mean bringing an existing building to peak performance based on how it’s currently used. Our Kansas City team provides owners with a commissioning approach that identifies inefficiencies and recommends corrections to increase system performance and save money, potentially thousands of dollars annually.

Retro-Commissioning at McCownGordon is designed to reduce building energy loss.

Retro-commissioning helps the owner identify and meet energy efficiency and performance goals through extensive review of property compared to analysis of similar buildings, retro-commissioning helps identify energy savings and equipment performance goals.

Most of the energy wasted in today’s commercial facilities isn’t visible. Often caused by design problems in HVAC systems, malfunctioning dampers or valves, heating and cooling at the same time, and occupant adjustment to temperature controls, energy waste grows as buildings age.

Retro commissioning addresses these challenges and provides solutions for maximum building efficiency and occupant comfort. Beyond day-to-day maintenance, retro-commissioning addresses high energy costs by resolving operational challenges in existing HVAC systems, lighting, water systems and automatic controls. Through this systematic process and extensive engineering analysis, McCownGordon’s licensed commissioning experts in Kansas City focus on uncovering low-cost or no-cost energy saving opportunities that often result in ROI in less than two years.

Jereme Nollett

Senior Commissioning Manager

Leveraging his years of experience, Jereme specializes in building performance optimization, life- cycle cost analysis, cost-benefit analysis, carbon footprint reduction and energy conservation measures. He has a diverse background in system design, new and retrocommissioning, energy management, and test & balance with apassion for sustainable design and building optimization, resulting in an extensive understanding of MEP systems, their functionality and interaction with one another.

Andrew Shaver

Sr. Commissioning Specialist

Andrew brings a different viewpoint to the commissioning process. Coming from a background of facilities management and program management for construction activities in multi-site organizations, Andrew has spent time across the table as the owner. He has lead activities such as directing design decisions, operating procedures, leading multiple design-build projects, and understanding the cost associated with mechanical systems and their requirements. Over the last decade, he has worked to institute new and retro-commissioning in the facilities he served and advocated for optimization to prolong the life of mechanical systems, reducing operating costs, and aligning real-world metrics with design intent for optimal occupant comfort and usability.
